- Don’t think of diets as a punishment. They are there to give you health – a boon that lets you live an active, fun-filled life.

- Consult a dietitian before you start.

- You should get necessary tests done to rule out deficiencies and illnesses.

- When you crave, remember that there is always a healthy alternative.

- Look at your body in the buff in the mirror. Knowing how unhealthy and out of shape you look will keep you going. As you lose, looking shapelier is a great boost.

- Exercise discipline through inner resources. Meditate, do pranayama or yoga. It will increase your will-power.

- Have a list of modified favorite recipes to make meals interesting, tasty and healthy.

- Stay out of the kitchen except when its time to eat.

- Keep busy, walk around the block, listen to music. Occupation blocks negative feelers.

- Self-talk works. Keep boosting your enthusiasm.

- You should not be too harsh with yourself or give up because of one small lapse. Everything is redeemable even a diet.

- No diet works without an exercise programme to support it. Choose what suits your temperament and keep active.

- Eliminate stress through mind techniques and spirituality.
